# The Hand Clinic — Professor David Warwick

> Professor David Warwick (DM · MD · BM · FRCS · FRCS(Orth)) is President Elect of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand — the global educational body for hand surgery — and a past President of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is a GMC-registered consultant hand and wrist surgeon offering private and NHS treatment in Southampton, Winchester, Lymington and Jersey, and accepts expert-witness instructions across the UK.

Professor David Warwick has been Consultant Hand Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton since 1998 and is visiting hand surgeon to Jersey and Guernsey. He holds the European Diploma of Hand Surgery, awarded with the Gold Medal in 2004, and two doctorates: from Bristol (1995) on thrombosis in orthopaedics, and from Southampton (2020) for his research into Dupuytren's disease. He was awarded the Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1998 and an Honorary Professorship by the University of Southampton in 2013.

Co-author of the DISC trial comparing collagenase with surgery for Dupuytren's contracture, published in the New England Journal of Medicine (2024), and of the SWIFFT trial on scaphoid fracture published in The Lancet (2020). 89 peer-reviewed papers, 34 book chapters, H-index 41.

Conditions treated include Dupuytren's disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, hand and wrist arthritis, thumb base arthritis, distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) disorders, joint replacement, scaphoid and wrist fracture, trigger finger, ganglion, hand and wrist trauma, and sports injuries. He remains in full-time practice with five clinics and five operating lists each week. Published fees: new patient consultation £250; follow-up £50-£150; surgery is quoted as a fixed all-inclusive rate.
